The AT02 was the second car of the Scuderia AlphaTauri era and it was used in the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship. It sported a distinctive livery in opaque blue and white, which proved a big hit with the fans.
Making the most of the stability in the regulations, the AT02 was essentially an evolution of its predecessor, the AT01, featuring the same chassis, as demanded by the 2021 technical regulations. The most significant changes were to the floor, the diffuser and the rear brake ducts. All areas of the car were optimised in an effort to regain some of the aerodynamic downforce lost through changes to the regulations. The available development tokens were mainly invested in a completely new design of front wing. The ATO2 was powered by the Honda RA621H, which delivered more power, with improved packaging.
The AT02 was not only a beauty, it was also quick and reliable, which meant that Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda were regularly fighting for points. Out of the 22 races, the AT02 finished in the top ten no fewer than 19 times. The data shows that this was Scuderia AlphaTauri’s best ever car and it took the team to sixth place in the Constructors’ championship.
