This year, the F1 Esports championship battle is more open than ever, with just three races remaining. The top six in the standings all have the mathematical possibility of taking the drivers’ crown, while among the teams, the real F1 duel between Red Bull and Mercedes that was decided last weekend, is mirrored in the virtual world. This final round runs over two days as usual, with the first race on Wednesday 15 December taking place at the iconic Imola track, hosting a round of the F1 Esports Pro Championship for the very first time and we are really looking forward to our first virtual home race. A Grand Prix at Mexico’s Hermanos Rodriguez circuit follows on the same day, while the grand final takes place on Thursday 16 December and, for third year running, the Interlagos track will decide the outcome of the F1 Esports championship. We can expect 25 nail biting laps during which just about anything could happen.
The race on our home track sees the debut of our third driver, Italian Dario Iemmulo, who has been training with Joni Törmälä and Sebastian Job, acting as their race engineer in all previous rounds. He will be teamed up for Imola with our expert Finn, while for Mexico and Brazil, it will be back to the usual duo of Törmälä and Job. Joni, who is something of a specialist when it comes to setting fastest race laps, only needs to do it in one of the remaining three races to take the DHL Fastest Lap Award for a second consecutive year. Sebastian also has something to aim form in this final round, as he is in with a chance of being the best rookie of 2021.
