The final selection was closely contested over the past four months, with 109,000 players taking part in 156 countries. Only the 36 fastest got through to the final stage which took place at the GFinity Arena in London. This was whittled down to just 30 for the second day, to play for the prize of being chosen as drivers for the official teams. We chose Manuel Biancolilla, a 19-year-old from Priolo Gargallo, Syracuse, Italy, who will very shortly be joining his Scuderia Toro Rosso Esports team-mates!

“I am pleased with the result of this Pro Draft and I’m happy to be joining the Toro Rosso Esports Team,” said a proud Manuel. “I think I showed what I can do. In the elimination race on Tuesday, I started fourth and ran at a strong pace. Unfortunately, there was a problem during the pit stop which meant I lost almost two seconds a lap in the second stint. In the end, despite that difficulty, I managed to cross the line in sixth place.”

Now the time has come to focus on the F1 Esports Pro Series, the actual championship that gets underway in September. It runs over a total of 12 races, split into four rounds, all of them taking place at London’s GFinity Arena, on 11 September, 2 October, 6 November, with the grand final on 4 December. All the races will be shown live, so put the dates in your diary, as it’s bound to be a great show!
