The Losail International Circuit hosts the Qatar Grand Prix.
The facility took just one year to build and was officially inaugurated in 2004. Located not far from the capital Doha, it is a modern track which rapidly became a highpoint of the Formula 1 calendar. The circuit boasts an impressive lighting system for perfect night time racing, while the track itself is surrounded by synthetic turf, designed to prevent the desert sand blowing onto it. The track is 5.380 kilometres long and features 16 corners, 10 to the right and 6 to the left. The long 1.068 kilometre main straight means there is no lack of overtaking opportunities.
