2016 season

In the 2016 F1 World Championship, the sporting regulations allowed customer teams to be supplied with 2015 Power Units. We were among the teams who opted to do so, switching from Renault to the 2015 Ferrari 060 Power Unit in our car, the STR11.

The first part of the 2016 F1 season was positive. Our drivers consistently fought for points positions. Max Verstappen drove for us for the first four races, then moved to Red Bull Racing and was replaced by Daniil Kvyat. The Russian drove the rest of the season alongside Carlos Sainz. The best result was a sixth place for Verstappen in Bahrain, a feat emulated by Sainz on three other occasions, in Spain, the USA and Brazil. Those results cemented our seventh place in the Constructors’ Championship, ending the year on 63 points.
