The artist has been given the opportunity to apply a unique graffiti design directly on a F1 car, inspired by the colours of the AlphaTauri Fashion Spring/Summer collection. The Showcar will be on display at the completely new and bespoke Red Bull Energy Station, which has been designed and built especially for the Miami Grand Prix.
Before the race weekend, Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda met up with Remote to discover more about graffiti culture, the Miami art scene and to have a first look at the repainted F1 car. In homage to this art project, the same graffiti design will also be featured on the headrest of both AT03 cars raced in the Miami Grand Prix. Furthermore, the artist surprised Yuki Tsunoda with a special helmet paint job for the race, matching his design language of the headrest and Showcar.
Yuki Tsunoda commented: “I am super grateful for the special helmet design that Jay made for me. I had not seen it live before today and it looks super cool. I cannot wait to wear it on track.”
During their visit, both drivers challenged each other to prove their graffiti skills by spraying their own design on a blank helmet, these will be auctioned off to raise money for the Wings For Life Foundation, which will host a global charity run on Sunday 8th May. Both helmets will be digitalised as a NFT and can be bought on a dedicated homepage during the race weekend. The buyer will be able to redeem their NFT until the end of the 2022 F1 season to receive the physical helmet and the race gloves of each driver worn at the Miami GP.
“I am a big fan of the vibrant art scene here in Miami” said Pierre Gasly, “and I love the design that Remote has created for us. Furthermore, Miami is a major hub for the crypto community, which is why I was here earlier this year for the announcement of our extended partnership with Fantom. I think it is the perfect opportunity for AlphaTauri and our F1 team to launch this special NFT project here and I hope we will raise a lot of money to support the Wings For Life Foundation.”
AlphaTauri’s colour palette this Spring/Summer which consists of jade, lilac and light blue was translated into a fast-forward car design. The Miami-based artist Jay Bellicchi used technical drawings and mood boards of the AlphaTauri collection to incorporate the fashion brand’s precision and craftmanship into the design. Detailed embellishments on the car underline how design and engineering come together within an environment that appreciates style and functionality.
Remote also expressed his feelings about the project: “I was super thrilled when I got the call to collaborate with AlphaTauri and the Formula 1 Team on this crazy project. I must say it was a completely new challenge for me to apply my art on the beautifully sculptured surface of a F1 car compared to a flat wall, but I am very satisfied with the outcome. I am also super proud that my design will be visible on the actual race cars’ headrests and Yuki’s Helmet.”
Fabian Wrabetz, Scuderia AlphaTauri Commercial Director added: “When Miami was announced to be on the calendar, we immediately knew that we needed to do something special given its world-renowned fashion, art and lifestyle scene, which perfectly fits our Team. AlphaTauri (Fashion), Jay, ARTPLUG and the Metrowrapz crew have been amazing in turning this idea into reality. With the charity NFT sale we hope to raise money for a good cause and give fans the chance to be part of this special project.”
“We are excited about realising this special cooperation with this talented artist where fashion meets Formula 1! The design gets across the mood of our current collection and fits perfectly into the summery Miami atmosphere. This little extra is our contribution to thank all our amazing supporters and fans without whom the past successful season would not have been possible.” commented Ahmet Mercan, AlphaTauri CEO.
The entire project has been captured in a content production which can be watched on the AlphaTauri YouTube channel.
