Il commento di Jody Egginton (Technical Director) sulla tre giorni di test:
“La Scuderia AlphaTauri ha chiuso positivamente anche questo terzo e ultimo giorno di test pre-stagione qui sul Bahrain International Circuit, percorrendo ben 422 giri totali (2283,86 km). Dopo due giornate caratterizzate da condizioni mutevoli, oggi il tempo è migliorato ed entrambi i piloti hanno giovato di temperature della pista più basse. In mattinata ha girato Pierre, completando altri 76 giri. Dopo la pausa pranzo, Yuki è sceso in pista e ha completato il programma con una simulazione di gara, prima di concludere la sessione con un acuto, ottenendo un ottimo secondo posto al calare della bandiera a scacchi. Nel corso dei tre giorni, il team ha lavorato su un fitto programma di prove, inclusi tanti aero test che hanno consentito la raccolta di una grande quantità di dati che ora la squadra analizzerà, in vista della prima gara che si terrà proprio qui in Bahrain alla fine di questo mese. Dopo questi test, il team rimane cautamente ottimista relativamente alle performance della vettura e adesso tornerà in factory per approfondire il livello di correlazione tra i dati della galleria del vento e le prestazioni in pista”.
“Oggi chiudere la sessione in P2 è stato fantastico: ovviamente non ci si può gasare, perché sono solamente dei test, ma è stato comunque bello chiudere questi tre giorni con un buon risultato. Negli ultimi giorni ho imparato tanto e ho aiutato il team a raccogliere dati importanti che adesso analizzeremo, in vista della prima gara. Penso che per me sia grandioso poter iniziare la stagione sulla stessa pista in cui ho fatto i test, perché sono riuscito a completare tanti giri e ho imparato bene il tracciato. Abbiamo avuto alcuni piccoli problemi all’inizio, ma è esattamente ciò che ci si aspetta di affrontare nei test: siamo qui per sistemare tutto, così da avere il miglior pacchetto possibile a nostra disposizione il giorno della gara. Nelle prossime settimane continuerò a lavorare sodo, non vedo l’ora che si cominci”.

“Ora che abbiamo chiuso questi tre giorni di test, non vedo l’ora di iniziare a correre. Abbiamo completato il nostro programma e abbiamo una buona comprensione della situazione nel complesso. In vista della gara, conosciamo i punti di forza della vettura e sappiamo dove possiamo ancora fare dei miglioramenti. In macchina sono a mio agio e penso che siamo in una posizione migliore rispetto all’anno scorso. Spero davvero di poter lottare per ottenere bei punti durante tutta la stagione. Anche la Honda ha fatto un ottimo lavoro con la Power Unit e ne siamo davvero soddisfatti: per tutti e tre i giorni è stata perfetta. Non vedo l’ora che arrivino le qualifiche del GP del Bahrain, perché sarà il momento in cui capiremo ciò che ogni team sarà in grado di fare”.

“Il test in Bahrain si è chiuso con un’altra ottima giornata e siamo riusciti a completare tutto ciò che avevamo programmato. Pierre ha guidato stamattina concentrandosi su ulteriori elementi di setup, nel tentativo di migliorare il bilanciamento. Siamo riusciti a completare dei test normalmente non potremmo fare durante un weekend di gara, quindi per noi è stata una grande opportunità per arricchire il nostro database. Inoltre, siamo riusciti a conoscere più approfonditamente le mescole di pneumatici 2021 durante i long run. Yuki nel pomeriggio ha avuto l’opportunità di fare la sua prima e unica simulazione di gara prima dell’avvio della stagione. È stato un momento importante per lui, in particolare per poter approfondire la tecnica di gestione delle gomme. La giornata si è conclusa con un po’ di performance run, poiché la temperatura della pista e il vento erano diminuiti. Le condizioni hanno fatto in modo che la pista diventasse più veloce e quindi i tempi sul giro si sono abbassati. Entrambi i piloti si sono detti soddisfatti e hanno ottenuto prestazioni davvero buone, quindi non vediamo l’ora di tornare qui tra due settimane per correre e conoscere la vera classifica”.

“Sono state tre buone giornate di test e siamo riusciti a completare 2.284 Km in totale. Abbiamo imparato tanto sulla vettura proprio perché siamo riusciti a completare tanti giri. Entrambi i piloti hanno fatto un lavoro fantastico in tutte e tre le giornate: Pierre è stato molto costante a ogni sessione e Yuki si è comportato molto bene questo pomeriggio. La AT02 sembra essere competitiva, ma non sappiamo quanto, almeno fino alla prima sessione di qualifiche qui in Bahrain. Vorrei ringraziare tutti i membri del team per l’ottimo lavoro e non vediamo l’ora che parta la nuova stagione. Vorrei anche ringraziare gli organizzatori del Bahrain International Circuit per la calorosa accoglienza e per aver organizzato un grande test”.
